Weekly Round up – 5th-11th January 2020

The first full week of 2020 saw all of scheduled club rides take place along with two evening training sessions, here’s a run down of the weeks cycling;

Sunday 5th January

A good turnout for the first Sunday Social Ride of the New year. We split the group into two on route to Harleston, so the faster riders could put a few more miles in on the way to Rosliston. A steady ride back towards Wigginton followed refreshments at Rosliston Forestry Centre.

Wednesday 8th January

The increasingly popular Wednesday ride covered 34 miles with 1,500 feet of climbing this week, stopping for refreshments and The Tithe Barn at Bosworth Battlefield.

Evening Training

Tuesday’s Amington loop and Thursday’s Gilway TT took place providing members with options for interval / effort based training.

Saturday 10th January

34 members gathered for todays ride out to Oakes Farm in Balsall Common. Two faster paced groups were followed by a single medium paced group on the 51 mile route which took in 2091ft of climbing. Strong headwinds made the ride out a hard effort, rewarded with hot food and drinks at Oakes Farm Cafe. A change of direction for the return journey meant we were this time assisted by a tailwind along flat, fast roads making for an enjoyable spin home.

Why not join us for a ride?

We have a number of regular Club rides throughout the week, with something to suit everyone regardless of ability. New prospective members are welcome to come along for up to three rides.

Completing three rides successfully, will give us the chance to meet and get to know you and you can find out if Tamworth Cycling Club is suited to your needs.

We expect that you should be able to ride at least 12 mph average over 25 to 30 miles and own a road bike with spare inner tubes, pump & tyre levers.

Please Contact us for more information or to let us know if you’d like to join us for a ride.
