A disrupted schedule this week as Storm Brendan hit the UK, bringing rain and gusts of more than 80mph to parts of the country.
Sunday 12th January
The Sunday’s Social went to Tuppenhurst Farm, a ride of around 40 miles with climbing to suit those looking for a steady, social paced ride.
Wednesday 15th January
A break in the weather meant the Wednesday ride went ahead as planned to Astley Book Farm. 34 miles with 1,700 feet of climbing including Boot Hill.
Evening Training
Both sessions cancelled. ⛈💨ðŸ˜
Saturday 18th January
Nine riders made up the medium paced group ride to Melbourne Hall Tea Rooms, Derbyshire. A 53 mile route taking in 2708ft of climbing. Sub-zero temperatures overnight meant the roads were slippery in places with black ice getting the better of two riders on the way out. Thankfully, no serious damage done but a salutary reminder of the risks of winter cycling. Meanwhile a faster group of ten headed for Burbage Common Visitor Centre, Hinckley covering 56 miles with some 2551ft of climbing. Bike handling skills were again tested in the wintery conditions but thankfully no further incidents to report!
Why not join us for a ride?
We have a number of regular Club rides throughout the week, with something to suit everyone regardless of ability. New prospective members are welcome to come along for up to three rides.
Completing three rides successfully, will give us the chance to meet and get to know you and you can find out if Tamworth Cycling Club is suited to your needs.
We expect that you should be able to ride at least 12 mph average over 25 to 30 miles and own a road bike with spare inner tubes, pump & tyre levers.
